Launched in October during the Innovation Days at the new Prima Industrie Advanced Laser Center in Collegno (Turin), the Print Genius 250 will be showcased for the first time at an exhibition. The PBF machine features a build volume of 262x262x350 mm and is suitable for the fabrication of medium-sized components. The Print Genius 250 is the ideal solution for high productivity with metal printing applications, reducing production times through its dual single-mode 500W laser, combined with intelligent software for fast part orientation and the definition of machine parameters.

Optimized gas flow, which minimizes gas consumption, and the capability to perform a complete material change in less than 2 hours are other strengths of this innovative machine. The Print Genius 250 is equipped with a 2-line filter unit for the recirculation of the gas inside the work area, which maintains a high degree of machine cleanliness and minimizes the replacement of parts subject to wear. The new HMI monitors in real-time the building environment, the building plate, the dispenser and the recoater, generating reports with all of the key printing parameters.

The Print Genius 250 is suitable for processing of a wide range of materials including high strength steel, stainless steel, maraging steel, high-temperature nickel-based alloys (e.g. Inconel), aluminium and copper alloys, cobalt-chromium, and titanium.

Also displayed for the first time at a trade show, the LASERDYNE® 430 DED is a compact and accurate laser metal deposition platform with a working volume of 585x400x500 mm and a high build rate (max 40-50 cm3/h – typical 20 cm3/h), and excellent end-part properties, suitable for 3D fabrication, reworking and repairing.

The LASERDYNE® 430 DED is equipped with the Advanced Head, an innovative multi-purpose DED laser head with a modular design that can be mounted in different configurations to easily adapt to multiple laser processes. Some of the strengths of the new head are fusion metal pool monitoring, pressurized optical path that avoids dust infiltration and a water-cooled nozzle for continuous deposition, which reduces the risk of powder adhesion during the process. The additive nozzle itself is manufactured using additive manufacturing processes. The head also offers easy maintenance and fast alignment of the powder to the laser spot.

The Advanced Head can be mounted on all Prima Industrie Laser Metal Deposition products, and is also available as part of Prima Additive’s Laser Metal Deposition Kit, which includes the head, a high-efficiency laser source, a flexible powder feeder and additive CAM software for off-line programming. The kit can be integrated into nearly any machinery and robotic system.

The flexibility of the LASERDYNE® 430 DED can be further increased through the addition of an optional roto-tilting table, which adds two more axes for more complex applications.

The LASERDYNE® 430 is also a sustainable manufacturing solution, thanks to its Prima Electro high efficiency, low maintenance laser source which is available from 1 to 6 kW. Furthermore, the typical applications of this machine – material and process characterization / optimization, addition of internal and external features, coating deposition and repair or build up activities on existing parts – are in line with the Circular Economy business model, which aims to maintain the value of products and materials for as long as possible, transforming resources at the end of their life cycle into new input in the value creation process.

The new Convergent CS450 laser source, developed by Prima Electro, will be also exhibited on the Prima Additive stand. This is a highly efficient and compact fiber laser for Additive Manufacturing, developed with the laser technologies expertise of the Prima Industrie Group.  The main benefits of this laser source are a high beam quality, high efficiency (up to 30% wall-plug efficiency), simple, compact, robust and maintenance free design, with long term power stability.

Besides the additive manufacturing systems, Prima Additive provides a full range of services, covering the entire life cycle of the system and technology. This contributes to maximising the added-value benefits and profit for our customers.

Dollmar and BTB Transfer together for a customized transfer machine

BTB Transfer based in Bovezzo, is one of the leaders of machine tool manufacturers in the Brescia area. Transfer machines, the result of BTB production, are used in a growing number of industrial sectors, from the petrochemical industry to household appliances, from fittings to the automotive sector. The collaboration with Dollmar begins with the request that BTB received from an important customer in the automotive sector based in Brazil.

The customer required not only a transfer machine but an full process of machining and washing. Among the various requirements there was the need for a continuous, single-phase washing with a cycle time of 9 seconds, with a product that could be not only degreasing but also protective. Therefore BTB, given the specific request, identified Dollmar Meccanica as the ideal partner for the complex project requested by the Brazilian customer. Dollmar Meccanica has therefore developed a spray washing tunnel with step advancement. Specifically, at the end of the manufacturing process the components are turned upside down on a vibrating belt. In the washing tunnel there is an optical device that recognizes the single metal parts. The components, then, undergo a laser marking, which guarantees to be able to monitor the progress of the process in the FINEP
washing tunnel. Finally, in the last part of the washing process a cooling station is inserted which guarantees the final piece not to undergo dimensional alterations. This is because all the components are subjected to dimensional control after washing, therefore the temperature of the pieces in output must not compromise the dimensional values. The spray washing tunnel and other devices are interconnected according to the logic of the industry 4.0.

The visual search engine of the next dimension

New CADENAS platform opens unique search functions for engineers to find and download millions of 3D CAD & BIM models from manufacturer catalogs available worldwide If one is looking for information, search engines are often the first point of contact nowadays. When looking for a desired component, engineers and planners quickly reach the limits of conventional search engines, the results of which are usually too general and do not lead to the desired goal. The reason is obvious: Popular search engines are not focused on the technical sector.

CADENAS has now developed a visual search engine of the next dimension: With 3Dfind.it, engineers, purchasers and architects can find millions of 3D CAD & BIM models from hundreds of manufacturer catalogs available worldwide, including architecture, engineering, electrical engineering and electronic products, then download and use for their design. The search results consist of the digital product data of components that are made available by the manufacturers for engineering, design and planning. Many catalogs offer more than 150 different native and neutral CAD formats such as Autodesk Revit, Nemetschek ALLPLAN, ArchiCAD, Autodesk Inventor, NX, Solid Edge, PTC Creo Parametric, AutoCAD, CATIA or SOLIDWORKS.

Unique search functions enable smart finding instead of searching Engineers & architects spend 27% of their time searching for information. 3Dfind.it, the search engine for digital component data, was developed to significantly reduce search times and to increase efficiency in engineering and building planning. With intelligent functions that go far beyond the mere full-text search, 3Dfind.it is the indispensable platform for architects, planners, engineers and designers. The following search functions are available to users:

In its 111th year, BOGE presents the S111 – 4 anniversary compressor

The company founder Otto Boge looks on astutely from the white sideof the machine: however, it is not just the design that makes the S 111-anniversary compressor from BOGE special. The exclusive machine versionis part of the popular S-series, from the Bielefeld-based compressedai specialist, is more efficient than ever and stands out with its unique features. However, please note that it is only available for the duration of the  year – BOGE was 111 years old in November. Is everything o.k.? Or will it soon be time for the next service? The S111-4 anniversary compressor lets users know its operating condition at a single glance, and can even do this remotely: For the first time, BOGE has integrated the traditional status notification into the body of the machine as an easily visible light strip. The LED bar at the upper edge of the compressor reliably and conveniently indicates any anomalies, even in vast production halls. BOGE has also equipped its anniversary machine with numerous efficiency improvements as standard: the IE4 motor ensures the current possible maximum degree of efficiency for the drive. The specific power consumption has also been improved for the S 111-4 L. The compressor has been fitted with super-soundproofing as standard too: it works at a sound level of 67 dBA and is therefore the best in its class compared with competitor products. Normal conversation is therefore possible next to the running compressor, and adjoining office spaces or production workplaces do not require any additional noise protection. With a drive capacity of 110 kW, the anniversary machine is in a somewhat higher power range, for deployment in medium to large industrial plants. A direct drive, very few built-in maintenance parts and a low speed of 1500 r.p.m. make the S 111-4 L low-wear andlow-maintenance, and therefore also extremely durable. Besides this,
the compressor is impervious to dirt and dust particles from the ambient air thanks to its design. The design – bright white instead of the typical
BOGE blue – emphasises the significance that the compressed air specialist attributes to this version of its screw compressor. Founded in 1907, and in its fourth generation as a family-run company, BOGE has stood for intelligent engineering, progressive solutions and convincing quality for 111 years. The S 111-4 L is exclusively available in the anniversary year only. However, BOGE will then offer many of its special features on other machines in the S-4 series
