Special Euroblech – Kasto

Sheet metal storage 4.0 – dynamic, safe, efficient

At EuroBLECH 2018, the international technology fair for sheet metal processing (October 23-26, Hanover), the metal saw and storage technology specialist KASTO Maschinenbau will be showing how the storage of flat goods can look in the era of Industry 4.0. Visitors can experience the compact and standardized KASTOecostore tower storage system in action in Hall 12, Booth H93. The special advantages of the system are its low space requirement, high storage density, flexible clamping and fastening and short access times. KASTO will also be presenting a new possibility for remote diagnosis: With KASTO VisualAssistance, users can send live videos to KASTO service experts via tablet, smartphone or smart glasses and receive visual assistance and information in real time in case of troubleshooting or maintenance work on their machines and systems.

Depending on the design, the KASTOecostore can hold sheets, pallets and other flat goods up to 1,524 millimetres wide and 4,000 millimetres long. The system height can be up to eight metres. It can be selected to match the user’s requirements, and the same applies to loading heights. Users can define up to three different heights between 50 and 950 millimetres per storage system. This ensures a particularly high storage density, and the tower construction makes optimum use of the available vertical space. The load carriers, automatically stored and retrieved, are lifted to the optimum loading and unloading height with a hoist. An additional lifting device such as a forklift truck is not required for cassette removal. This ensures short access times and an ergonomic working method.

The drive system is equipped with modern Siemens frequency converters; the drive motor itself is stationary. This enables particularly dynamic and precise storage and retrieval processes. Robust roller chains ensure a long service life and low-maintenance operation. The steel structure consists of standardized rolled sections and is dimensioned in accordance with the applicable earthquake guidelines. A comprehensive safety concept based on a safety control system prevents malfunctions and expensive downtimes. The KASTOecostore is also equipped with the KASTO SmartControl machine control system as standard. It has an intuitive user interface with touch screen, making it particularly easy to operate. This allows fast and error-free work, even with frequently-changing operating personnel – and thanks to its compact dimensions, the store can also be installed close to the machine.

With VisualAssistance, KASTO has marketed an innovative solution for the remote maintenance of its machines and systems. At the heart of the system is an interactive app for tablets, smartphones and smart glasses, allowing customers to connect to service staff via video and audio streaming. Users and KASTO technicians share the same field of view in real time. This greatly facilitates mutual understanding and helps to quickly identify individual system components and possible faults. The app also gives KASTO experts the opportunity to provide visual assistance and to display markers in live video, for instance. With VisualAssistance, users benefit from minimal downtimes as well as high availability and productivity levels of their machines and systems.
