Special Fabtech – Crippa

Crippa has further expanded its organization at Crippa USA to strengthen its presence in the United States. With this purpose, we have engaged a new division manager, Giacomo Gouery, an accomplished, senior-level Sales Manager with a broad scope of experience, who is now Chief Operating Officer for the American Subsidiary of Crippa. At Fabtech in Atlanta we will be showing some of our latest technical solutions: 942XE, SMALL2E and the end forming machine S08/4. But one of the highlights for this edition will be the brand new  bending machine CLEVER that introduces a full electric model for steel tubes up to Dia. 25 mm in Crippa’s catalogue. Clever is based on the concept of a tilting bending head – which is single instead of dual. This makes it possible to increase the execution speed of the bending process considerably and to reduce the cycle time. CLEVER performs automatic cycles with right, left, multi-stack and multi-radius bends. Come discover CLEVER and the other news at Fabtech, CRIPPA SPA, stand C10828.

Special Fabtech – Bystronic

Bystronic acquires Italian technology company for tube and profile processing

Recently, Bystronic has significantly expanded its existing portfolio of sheet metal fabricating technologies with new solutions for automation, warehouse integration, and digital networking.

Bystronic announces the full acquisition of their strategic partner TTM Laser S.p.A., a successful Italian technology company that specializes in the development of 2D and 3D laser systems for the cutting of tubes and profiles, and for the welding of large-format metal sheets.

The development of a strategic partnership with TTM Laser in November 2017 has shown there is a strong demand for customers to be able to purchase all these solutions from a single source. The added value that is created allows customers to position themselves more successfully on the market. A supplier with a strong sales and service network not only simplifies the purchase and maintenance, but also the successful integration and operation of manufacturing solutions. With the acquisition of TTM Laser, Bystronic is deepening its existing portfolio for the laser cutting process step with applications for tubes with diameters between 1/2 inch – 32 inch, and for profiles.

Bystronic CEO Alex Waser emphasizes: “With the merger of Bystronic and TTM Laser, our customers are gaining access to a unique range of technologies and innovations for their sheet metal processing requirements. TTM Laser’s know-how and technology portfolio ideally complement Bystronic’s existing manufacturing solutions with world-class systems for tube and profile processing. The goal of this takeover is to jointly push forward innovative manufacturing solutions.”

Special Fabtech – Axxair

The orbital cutting machines from AXXAIR are equipped with a concentric clamping device

Conversely to clamping equipment using a vice, the concentric clamping is delicate and strong at the same time. This device is equipped with 3 to 16 jaws according to the diameters of the tubes that have to be cut and then welded with orbital equipment. Generally, the stainless steel tube have a thickness of maximum 3 mm. This means that in industrial sectors such as vineyards, dairy and pharmaceutical sector, as well as in the food industry, these tubes are largely represented according to the current European standards.

These tubes are particularly thin. If you use a vice, it will distort the tube. This tube cannot be repaired and becomes scrap. The orbital cutting machines from AXXAIR are distinguished by the innovative concept of concentric clamping, even permitting to repair an oval shape of a tube. .

If you use a clamping system with 4 jaws, they will be placed:

at 0°- at 90°- at 180°- and at 270.

In this way, the tube does not suffer and it will not be weakened.

Stainless steel clamping

The concentric clamping systems from AXXAIR are equipped with basic jaws. They are fixed to columns which move close to the tube and then clamp them.

Why did we choose stainless steel for the jaws? The answer is quite simple. Any other material than stainless steel would pollute the tube after a certain time of functioning. In order to guarantee a perfect protection towards these external attacks – for instance corrosion, the protection of food or any liquid routed inside the tube – only stainless steel is largely recommended, not to say mandatory.

The basic jaws equip AXXAIR orbital cutting machines. When using AXXAIR equipment, you will have no damage or loss in productivity.
