Data M introduces new function “Automatic Report” for COPRA® FEA RF 2019
Booth G142, Hall 27

The Bavarian company data M is introducing their new versions of COPRA® RF and COPRA® FEA RF at EuroBLECH 2018 with various improvements, particularly the newly developed feature “Automatic Report”. This tool shortens the complete verification procedure, providing project managers as well as designers with an abundance of data about the simulated roll forming process.

Managing director Albert Sedlmaier is looking forward to meeting new and existing customers at EuroBLECH: “For years, data M has been developing soft and hardware solutions meant for process optimization and efficiency enhancement. The new releases and especially the new feature Automatic Report are further steps in this direction”.
With various auxiliary functions and customizable templates, COPRA® FEA RF 2019 allows for significant time saving. Although simulation times are reduced due to powerful CPUs, evaluation time for designers is increasing with complex projects. The templates facilitate quick and automated breakdown of results, provide numerous analysing possibilities and help with establishing a company standard.
COPRA® FEA RF 2019 pre-processes the results of the simulation geared to the respective target group, enabling the project manager to keep track or the designer to select detailed result quantities due to the reproducible templates. There is even a tailored report for the operator. By this approach, the simulation becomes the “digital twin” of the roll forming machine, providing detailed insights into the manufacturing process.

If requested, all evaluation parameter of interest will be broken down to each individual station. Particularly the designers – usually focusing on specific result quantities- will be called to attention by other important values. The “Automatic Reports” can still be standardized as desired by the customer and thus facilitate comparisons of different simulations.

The latest COPRA® RF 2019 will also be introduced at EuroBLECH. The leading design software likewise has various new functions. Designers can now mark coated or visible areas of a cross section. The primary material is more often delivered with already coated surfaces that must not be damaged by the subsequent shaping process.

The design of flower and roll tools has been shortened once again, due to the possibility of cutting in points of intersection. Additionally, the roll dimensioning can be laid out in tabular form with the coordinates of the contour points. For producers of round and rectangular tubes, COPRA® RF 2019 will automatically generate a four-roll-welding-pass.
Finally, the axis configurator allows for saving and loading of the axis positions related to each individual project. Following the “digital twin”-concept, the positions can thus be kept up to date in the machine as well as within the project.

PIPE BENDING SYSTEMS: The system for tube and pipe production

The perfect coordination between machine, measuring technique and software allows savings up to 70%. Sophisticated bending of tubes and pipes in sheet an metal forming the industry leads to a high quality level and sustained creation of value.

SCOPELINK and ROBOFIX: measuring, welding, assembling – perfect

Successful economic tube and pipe production is increasingly characterised by efficient software and growing digitisation – from design to production. Pipe bending machines and pipe processing equipment as well as system and software components – especially tailored to meet the demands of sheet and metal working indusries – from the PIPE BENDING SYSTEMS (PBS) division of TRACTO-TECHNIK provide intelligent solutions. Cost-efficient production with significantly superior quality of miles of complex tube geometries becomes possible, not to forget the globally unique PBS method to manufacture adapter pipes.
Directly after the transfer of the design and engineering data from the CAD system the PIPEFAB software controls the entire stages of production – from the material procurement to the shipment of the finished pipes. Not only the generation of work schedules and production batches as well as the calculation of production times and production costs are based on the stored pipe geometry data; the warehouse management, withdrawal of material, pipe preparation, cutting to length, bending, deburring, welding and quality assurance operations (x-ray inspection, pressure test, etc.) are also derived from this information. No matter whether the tube segments are manufactured in series or individually: each single piece fits at the first attempt.

Adapter pipes: Software supported efficiently by smart isometry application
A worldwide unique solution has been developed by the PPS research engineers: the SCOPELINK software allows generating the layout for the numerous adapter pipe connections in pipework automatically, especially for maritime environments. Using SCOPELINK reduces the generally time and cost intensive manufacturing of adapter pipes considerably: within only a few minutes the isometry data of the pipe layout can be measured and stored. To save time, prefabricated pipe segments can be tailored to meet the particular conditions of the installation on board. After the data transfer to the workshop or the SCOPELINK software the adapter pipe can be manufactured immediately. Indeed, nearly all players in the sector agree that there is no way to avoid adaptor pipe manufacturing: the economic and quality related advantages of this production step are too important.

Congruent pipework – absolutely corresponding to the specified pipe connection layout
Measuring includes precise gathering and documentation of the adapter pipe isometry as well as the position of the flanges and their hole patterns. Making of wire or basket models is not required any longer. Based on the pipe isometry the adapter pipe is bent or assembled of segments. For the workshop the TRACTO-TECHNIK development section has designed another advantageous tool: the automated positioning unit ROBOFIX. This component allows to fix two flanges with their hole patterns in the same position as they will assume after their final assembly. With the adapter pipe between the flanges tack welding can be carried out. Following the steps – measuring – welding – assembling – the reliable production of tension-free connections with exact dimensions takes place.

Sheet metal storage 4.0 – dynamic, safe, efficient

At EuroBLECH 2018, the international technology fair for sheet metal processing (October 23-26, Hanover), the metal saw and storage technology specialist KASTO Maschinenbau will be showing how the storage of flat goods can look in the era of Industry 4.0. Visitors can experience the compact and standardized KASTOecostore tower storage system in action in Hall 12, Booth H93. The special advantages of the system are its low space requirement, high storage density, flexible clamping and fastening and short access times. KASTO will also be presenting a new possibility for remote diagnosis: With KASTO VisualAssistance, users can send live videos to KASTO service experts via tablet, smartphone or smart glasses and receive visual assistance and information in real time in case of troubleshooting or maintenance work on their machines and systems.

Depending on the design, the KASTOecostore can hold sheets, pallets and other flat goods up to 1,524 millimetres wide and 4,000 millimetres long. The system height can be up to eight metres. It can be selected to match the user’s requirements, and the same applies to loading heights. Users can define up to three different heights between 50 and 950 millimetres per storage system. This ensures a particularly high storage density, and the tower construction makes optimum use of the available vertical space. The load carriers, automatically stored and retrieved, are lifted to the optimum loading and unloading height with a hoist. An additional lifting device such as a forklift truck is not required for cassette removal. This ensures short access times and an ergonomic working method.

The drive system is equipped with modern Siemens frequency converters; the drive motor itself is stationary. This enables particularly dynamic and precise storage and retrieval processes. Robust roller chains ensure a long service life and low-maintenance operation. The steel structure consists of standardized rolled sections and is dimensioned in accordance with the applicable earthquake guidelines. A comprehensive safety concept based on a safety control system prevents malfunctions and expensive downtimes. The KASTOecostore is also equipped with the KASTO SmartControl machine control system as standard. It has an intuitive user interface with touch screen, making it particularly easy to operate. This allows fast and error-free work, even with frequently-changing operating personnel – and thanks to its compact dimensions, the store can also be installed close to the machine.

With VisualAssistance, KASTO has marketed an innovative solution for the remote maintenance of its machines and systems. At the heart of the system is an interactive app for tablets, smartphones and smart glasses, allowing customers to connect to service staff via video and audio streaming. Users and KASTO technicians share the same field of view in real time. This greatly facilitates mutual understanding and helps to quickly identify individual system components and possible faults. The app also gives KASTO experts the opportunity to provide visual assistance and to display markers in live video, for instance. With VisualAssistance, users benefit from minimal downtimes as well as high availability and productivity levels of their machines and systems.
